The increasing population of the world and the shortage of water resources, is a serious threat to the sustainable development of agriculture. Therefore, methods such as pressurized irrigation are proposed to save water consumption. For this purpose, a meta-analysis study from the beginning to September 2020, was performed to investigate grain yield, irrigation water amount and water productivity in pressurized irrigation methods on maize plants. After searching databases, 17424 studies were collected and 93 paired data were obtained by final screening. overall, grain yield and irrigation water amount showed a significant increase of 7.65% and a significant decrease of 29.89%, respectively, in pressure methods compared to surface methods. Also, when using pressurized irrigation methods, water productivity increased significantly by 62.98% compared to the surface irrigations. In this study, sprinkler irrigation showed the highest increase in grain yield (10.42%), and drip tape irrigation showed the highest decrease in irrigation water amount (24.61%) and the highest increase in water productivity (70.22%), compared to surface irrigation. The results of this study showed the importance of using pressurized irrigation methods along with determining the appropriate method of pressurized irrigation that increases grain yield and water productivity and also decreases the amount of irrigation water for maize plants.
